LBB Rules






3rd & 4th Grade- North League

  •  National High School Federation Basketball rules shall be used with modifications approved by the North Middle league director.
  • Man-to-man defense only (no zone)
  • No pressing. Defense can not play full court defense until the last 2 minutes of the game and then only man to man.
  • 8 minute quarters. Running clock EXCEPT during free throws and during the last two minutes of the 2nd and 4th quarter.
  • Overtime will be three minutes in length.
  • Each team is allowed three timeouts per game. An additional timeout will be given in an overtime situation.
  • Bonus situations for free throws shall exist after the seventh team foul of each half, and then a 1 and 1 situation will occur. After the tenth foul of each half, the bonus situation will be two foul shots.
  • A point freeze will be in effect after the 3rd quarter if a team is up by 30 points.
  • A team has ten minutes after their scheduled time to provide 5 players that are ready to play or it will be called a forfeit. Forfeit games will not be made up.
  • A post-season single elimination tournament will be held at the end of the regular season with records determining the seeding.
  • Please inform all coaches, parents, players and other spectators that excessive and abusive language will not be tolerated. Such conduct will result in a technical foul and ejection from that game and the following game.

5th & 6th Grade- North League

  • National High School Federation Basketball rules shall be used with modifications approved by the North Middle league director.
  • Man-to-man defense only. Zone was allowed to be played in 6th grade the previous two seasons as long as both teams agreed.
  • Man-to-man press only. Teams may not press if they are ahead by more than 20 points.
  • 8 minute quarters. Running clock EXCEPT during free throws and during the last two minutes of the 2nd and 4th quarter.
  • Overtime will be three minutes in length.

  • Teams are allowed to switch as in “run and jump” defenses or switch screens, but not allowed to double team the ball.
